About this role

We’re looking for developers with experience working on anticheats and with Minecraft internals to work on our in-house anticheat, Sentinel. In this high impact role, the work you do will directly impact millions of players on the network. You will be ensuring fair play and thus increasing the quality of play all across CubeCraft.

Responsibilities

  • You will be working on both our Java and Bedrock platforms
  • Rapidly deliver tools and solutions to combat players using forbidden mods
  • Research common methods used by players to gain unfair advantages and calculate effective countermeasures
  • Analyse new bypassing methods used by players as they get out into the wild
  • Work in creating revolutionary technology to prevent players using modded clients
  • Continue to ensure the quality of play of normal players remains exceptional

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of Minecraft Java and Bedrock behaviour
  • Very strong knowledge of Paper and its internals
  • Very strong knowledge of working with the Minecraft Java and Bedrock protocol
  • Strong understanding of client movement and validating anomalies
  • Ability to work within a team setting and adhere to set out guidelines

Desired traits

  • Experience or knowledge in data analytics
  • Experience or knowledge in machine learning
  • Previous experience in behavioural enforcement development
  • Previous contributions to prolific open source projects within the Minecraft or wider development community

You should know/be able to:

  • How to calculate players expected velocities under specific conditions
  • How to debug and manipulate packets sent from a Minecraft client to understand patterns of behaviour

Depending on various factors (such as level, experience and location) which will be discussed during the recruitment process the compensation is expected to be, on average, around £13-£25 an hour for this role.
